Experience this Revamped Classic Journey: A Complimentary Trial for DQ7 Reimagined Arrives Shortly.
Fans looking forward to the arrival of Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined won't have to wait much longer. A highly anticipated demo version will go live on January 7th, offering a generous look into the game's beginning segments. Notably, all progress achieved within this demo is eligible to be transferred directly into the complete game upon its eventual debut.
Beyond Just a Simple Remake: A Complete Reimagining
This title represents a comprehensive reimagining of the iconic 2000 role-playing game, initially released as Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past. Taking a notable step away from other series re-releases, like the previously released HD-2D versions, this remake embraces a unique 3D visual presentation. Environments are designed to evoke detailed model sets, with protagonists sporting a whimsical toy-like design.
"Taking into account the previous port, the main quest was still exceptionally extended. So we reached a decision that we wanted to tighten the story, [and] craft an adventure for modern players."
Major Mechanical Improvements & Modernizations
Square Enix has added numerous changes to refresh the classic gameplay loop. These include:
- Streamlined Overworld Encounters: Similar to modern RPGs, weaker monsters can now be dispatched directly on the field eliminating the need for initiating a separate traditional battle screen.
- Variable Battle Pace: Gamers can accelerate battle sequences to rapidly get past easier encounters.
- New Vocation Mechanics: A brand new job class was created for this remake. Additionally, characters gain the capacity to master a secondary vocation, significantly expanding strategic possibilities.
Such alterations seek to tackle one of the original title's frequent points of feedback: its considerable length. The initial adventure could easily take over 100 hours to complete. This reimagined version has been specifically designed to enhance pacing and cut down on perceived bloat.
