Kansas City Chiefs State They Are Aware of Domestic Violence Claims Involving Player the Athlete

The NFL franchise issued a statement Wednesday night confirming they are aware of domestic violence allegations made public in social media posts by a ex-partner of player the athlete and had been in communication with the league office.

The team omitted the name of the player by name in their statement and said they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Claims Posted on Social Media

The woman, who likewise did not name the athlete directly, posted a series of photos on social media that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. She stated the person involved was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has kids with the football player, whom the team selected in the second round.

Police Reports Reportedly Unavailable

No official complaints were on file in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have taken place.

Player's Recent Off-Field Troubles

The receiver was absent for the initial part of this season due to an NFL suspension for his role in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that resulted in several individuals hurt. Rice was given a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to serious offenses.
