Reigning Aryna Sabalenka Claims Consecutive WTA Top Player Awards.
World number one Aryna Sabalenka has been chosen the Women's Tennis Association top performer of the year for a second consecutive season.
The 27-year-old secured four tournament victories – the highest tally on the circuit – which included retaining the US Open in September against Amanda Anisimova to earn her fourth career Grand Slam singles triumph.
A Season of Consistency
Across the season, Sabalenka reached a circuit-leading nine championship matches, with defeats coming to Madison Keys in the Australian Open final in January and Coco Gauff in the French Open final.
The star player also triumphed at the Brisbane International early in the season, the Miami Open during the spring, and the Madrid Open as the clay season progressed. She remained the entire year as the world number one, concluding 2025 on top of the rankings for a second straight year.
This past summer, she achieved the status of being the first player to top 12,000 WTA ranking points since Serena Williams in 2015.
Historic Statistics
Sabalenka concluded the season with a 63-12 win-loss record, and collected a record eleven million pounds in tournament winnings.
She garnered nearly eighty percent of the votes submitted by international tennis media.
On 28 December, she is set to play 2022 Wimbledon runner-up Nick Kyrgios in a high-profile mixed-gender exhibition match with the aim of "elevate women's tennis to a greater prominence".
Additional WTA Award Winners
- Returning Star of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, 28, received the award after taking extended hiatus following the arrival of her daughter and returning to the sport at the start of this year.
- Newcomer of the Year: Canadian 19-year-old Victoria Mboko was honored with the award after starting the season ranked beyond the world's top 300 and climbing to world number 18.
- Doubles Team of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend were selected after capturing their second career Grand Slam title together.
- Biggest Leap of the Year: Amanda Anisimova was named after advancing to five championship matches.
Last week, Carlos Alcaraz took home three honours in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, which included the season-ending top rank award, while Jannik Sinner was voted the fan favorite for a third time.
