Quoting a Classic: Cary Elwes Remembers His Director

Writing on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who rose to fame in Reiner's 1987 classic *The Princess Bride*, explained he finally felt prepared to share openly about his profound loss.

"Sufficient time has elapsed that I can now articulate my loss into words," shared Elwes, adding that his first meeting with Reiner made him fall in love. "As we began passing more hours together I understood this was someone I wanted in my life."

The actor shared archival material from the film, remarking that he could not remember "one day without laughter".

"The film is about love, loyalty and sacrifice. Principles that Rob valued immensely. Which is among the many reasons he was the perfect person to direct it," Elwes wrote.

He went on to praise Michele Reiner, noting: "Asserting that they were a incredible duo would be an oversimplification. My heart still pangs every time I think of you." He concluded with a quote from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but existence is agony without you."

Martin Scorsese Reflects on a Friend and Collaborator

In a separate piece, acclaimed director Martin Scorsese also honored Reiner, whom he originally knew in the 1970s.

"From the start, I loved spending time with Rob. We had a instant connection for each other. He was very funny and sometimes acutely humorous, but he was never the kind of guy who would command the room," Scorsese wrote.

Scorsese highlighted Reiner's acting part in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, embodying the father of the main character.

"His improvisation skills with the best. He was a virtuoso at comedy, he worked wonderfully with his co-stars, and he understood the personal struggle of his character," Scorsese wrote.

In a new development, a Los Angeles court official decided to bar the release of the Reiners' post-mortem findings, following a petition from the local authorities.

A judicial mandate put a restriction on the investigation to restrict the public release of "all case details, documents, files or images" associated with the ongoing investigation.

The Medical Examiner's office had earlier stated their deaths were the outcome of murder, with a official listing noting the cause as "multiple sharp force injuries".
